Ironing Board Hooks

It was hard to find our ironing board a home because our laundry room is so tiny.  We decided to hang it on the wall.  We used these cute hooks from Anthropologie.  I love the way it looks!

Dollar Tree Wreaths!

The Dollar Tree has these wreaths! I snagged a whole bunch. I made some presents for my wonderful teacher assistants and then I hung some around the house. I already had the burlap so this turned out to be a pretty good deal!

Chalkboard Table

Here is a chalkboard table I painted for my classroom.  We use it for many things.  I love utilizing it during my centers.  However, the table can easily be converted into a restaurant table or a kitchen table (depending on where our imaginations take us).

Fall Mantle

I love Fall!  It is my favorite season.  Here is our mantle!

Wall Stencil

Happy Sunday!!  I have been very busy lately with the start of a new school year.  I have not had a chance to decorate my house or update my blog.  Luckily, Fall Break is around the corner and hopefully I will have a little more time to do what I love-work on our house!

Here is our entryway.  I painted it gray and stenciled an accent wall with a high gloss light gray.  The process was no fun but the result is very fun!

Pallet Headboard

Here is my pallet headboard!  I spent hours sanding these and my wonderful dad attached them to the bed for me.  I LOVE the way it all turned out!

Burlap Balls

My sister gave us super cute silver bowls as our wedding present to place on our coffee and end tables.  Finding cute things to put in these bowls can be expensive.  Which is why I decided to experiment using the same technique I used to make this burlap wreath earlier this year.

I went to the Dollar Tree and bought two packages of Styrofoam balls and then bought three different colors of burlap from Hobby Lobby.  Did you know that Hobby Lobby has a 40% coupon on their website everyday (which you can pull up on your phone while you check out)?  The nice lady in the fabric section gave me this tip one day. :)  Which means that I made all of these vase fillers for less than $5.00!  Here are some pictures of the burlap balls.

Just go to the post explaining how to make the burlap wreath if you are wondering how I made these.  You could probably use any type of fabric you want.

Est. 2009 Sign

Hello :) Over spring break I found my dad's scrap pile of wood and we started working on a project together.  He helped me glue, sand, and stain the wood.  My plan was to paint a cute saying on my new sign.  I changed my mind because it was requiring too much patience and work.  So, I flipped the sign over (to the ugly side) and started over.  This not-so-perfect side gives the sign character.  Here is the end result!

Be Our Guest

Here is my latest project for the guest bedroom!  Hope you like it!  It is a little plain.  I think I might add a frame around it.  That will be saved for a later project.  Happy Wednesday!

Curtain Rod Project

Now that the guest bedroom is painted, I can start decorating!  I have seen many people hang things from curtain rods.  What a great way to not spend any money.  I just collected things I had around the house to hang.  I made the little burlap flowers because I thought the wreath looked a little plain.  I like the look, but it can easily be changed.  I would just need to use different things around the house. It is an easy fix if I change my mind, and I think I like that more!

Laundry Sign

There has not been a lot of time to work on our house this summer. However, I did repaint a little hallway we have outside of the laundry room. Let me tell you- there is nothing exciting about repainting a tan hallway tan. So, I decided to add some excitement. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought this sign. I did not want to put a hole in our door so I tied a hanger to it and hung it from a peice of burlap. I nailed the burlap to the top of the door. Wahoo! No hole and a sign! Now that is exciting!

Squash!

My dad made us these garden boxes.  Even though I do not have a green thumb at all, we had to take advantage of our new garden boxes.  We planted squash, cucumbers, and peppers of all kinds.  It has been a struggle for me to keep these plants alive and well.  At first I was drowning them.  Then we had a few storms, which left them broken or gone.  Our latest hail storm destroyed our cucumber plants.  Luckily, it is still early in the season so we can start over again with the cucumbers.  Here is a picture of our gardens (before the horrible hail storm) and our first (and only) squash!

Mudroom

It is a rainy day in OKC so I decided to finish our mudroom area.  It was fun to transform this little space with things we already had.  I couldn't find the before picture, but this space was very plain.  The walls were white with just the things on the back wall.  Now we have a cute spot for keys, mail, bills, bags, etc.

Address

It is finally summertime!  Now I have time to go back to ssslllooowwwlllyyyy decorating our house!  Here is what I did today before going out to the pool (I just love summer!).  My poor husband...I had a feeling that my better half might not be thrilled with my new project.  Which is why I cheated and used a decal instead of paint.  Now I do not feel like I invested a lot time (pool time that is) into this project and it is easier to take off.  Hope you like it!  I think I do!

New Shutters!

I love when houses have shutters.  I just love that look.  Before we even walked into the house we live in now I said that it needed shutters if we were going to buy it.  Then we stepped inside the house and we all quickly realized that shutters were the only thing the house "needed."  While weighing the pros and cons of the house with my parents, my dad said he could make us the shutters I "needed."  So we bought it under the condition that I would get my shutters.  My dad did an AMAZING job.  They came out perfect!  My dad is very talented at building things out of wood.  He can really make anything.  It is pretty incredible!  This past weekend my dad, husband, cousin, and sister's boyfriend hung them up for us.  We love them!  Thank you dad!

Chalkboard Flower Pots

We accidentally bought too many flowers when we were doing yard work. So I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up two pots.  I painted them with my chalkboard spray paint.  Then I put our address on one and the word "welcome" on the other.  These pots are on the front porch so they stay out of the rain, which in this case is a good thing.  I liked how they turned out and I didn't waste any flowers!

Thank You Idea

This "Thank You" idea has nothing to do with our house but I loved it and thought I would share it! It was a fun way to say, "Thank you" to someone who has devoted a lot of time, care, and effort into something. We made these for the people that helped us prepare for our Special Olympics at school.  The little buckets are filled with an assortment of mints.

Spring Break Project

Happy Easter everyone!  Here is a little project I did over Spring Break a couple of weeks ago  It is in our entryway.  I hope everyone is having a great Easter with their family and friends!
